As mentioned earlier, I’ve been using Voyager/Xubuntu 12.04 on our main computer and am very satisfied with it. Only one thing has been bothering me; and that is that some applications don’t look well with my favorite (and pretty much only) dark theme for Xfce, ‘Xfce-Dusk’. The default Xubuntu theme and other lighter themes work fine, and they looked fine in Xubuntu 11.10 (as did ‘Dusk’). But in 12.04: Update Manager, Synaptic Package Manager, Abiword, Audacious, Clementine and several other apps were not using the GTK theme and had that ugly old-style Windows look.
Well, I think that it must be because Xubuntu 12.04 is using GTK-3 instead of GTK-2. I went to Xfce-look.org and searched for Xfce-Dusk GTK-3 theme and downloaded it. I extracted the ‘tar.gz’ file and moved that Dusk GTK3 folder into my ‘user/.themes’ folder. Or if you want it available for all users, put it in ‘/usr/share/themes’ folder. Then I opened System Manager>Appearance and switched to the newly appearing ‘Xfce-dusk-gtk3’ theme. And now every application has the lovely (and easier on my eyes) Dusk theme integration!
